NO  ONE  WAS  INJURED  WHEN  THE  PILOT  OF  A  SMALL  PLANE  MADE  AN EMERGENCY  LANDING  IN   A  WATSONVILLE  FIELD  TODAY.      THE  PILOT,  WHO  WORKS  FOR  A  LOCAL  SKYDIVING  COMPANY,   SAID  THE  1956  CESSNA  182  EXPERIENCED  A  POWER SURGE,  AND  THEN  COMPLETE  ENGINE  FAILURE.   THE  PILOT,  WHO WAS COMING  BACK  FROM  A  SKY-DIVING  TRIP,  SAID  HE  PUT  THE  PLANE  INTO  A  GLIDE  PATTERN,   AND  WAS  ABLE  TO  LAND  IN  A  SAFE  SPOT.   

MEMBERS  OF  THE  NATIONAL  TRANSPORTATION  SAFETY  BOARD  PLAN  TO WORK  WITH  THE  PILOT  TO  DETERMINE  WHY  THE  ENGINE  OF  THE  SMALL  PLANE  FAILED.
