A Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a suspected identity thief on Friday. The deputy was on a routine after hours patrol of the Jose Avenue park where he spotted a vehicle occupied by a known felon. The officer performed a compliance search of the vehicle and recovered a stolen checkbook, social security card, ATM cards and a stolen driver’s license. 51 year old Richard Gilreath was booked into county jail on multiple identity theft related charges.
