A 14 year-old boy got to see his work save lives last week. As part of a school project, Ladislav Nozicka (known as “Ladi” to his friends) researched marine safety….and while doing so he realized that having flotation devices can be critical in rescuing people from the water. He also realized that neither of Monterey’s Wharfs had the commonly used “Life Rings”….so he raised the needed money to buy them, and they were installed last Wednesday…..just a day before a vehicle containing a father and daughter went off Monterey Wharf #2 and into the bay. The “Life Rings” were used to help rescue the pair……as “Ladi” and his father were just pulling their commercial fishing boat back into the harbor.
