Law enforcement agencies and district attorneys around the Central Coast have been meeting to determine how Proposition 47 will affect current procedures. The measure will lower the penalties for non-violent offenses. Officers will now issue citations for offenses that previously called for arrest. The new law also affects already resolved cases. In Santa Cruz County, some offenders are being taken off of electronic monitoring and others are possibly going to see charges dropped altogether.
