Santa Cruz County Law Enforcement agencies will raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Northern California (SONC) by participating in the 2020 Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday, November 4th.
The Torch Run features more than 3,000 law enforcement personnel from hundreds of local agencies carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope throughout Northern California.
In past years, the annual Torch Run would culminate in June at the SONC Summer Games in Davis. However, due to COVID-19, Summer Games was cancelled this year.
The 2020 Torch Run will take place from November 2-13 and lead into SONC’s Fall Games @ Home: an at-home competition for SONC athletes to stay fit and connected during the pandemic.
The torch run will start in Watsonville and end in Scotts Valley after covering 31 miles by nine separate agencies. Northern California law enforcement personnel fundraise for Special Olympics through a variety of events, including the Torch Run,
