there will be new trial for a man previously convicted of fatally stabbing a watsonville man in 2006. 23 year old leopoldo alejandro cortes was convicted in 2008 of stabbing and killing 23 year old chris carr. that conviction was overturned in may when a court of appeals judge ruled that more testimony from a defense-hired psychiatrist should have been allowed in the trial. a hearing to set the date of the new trial is scheduled for december 21st.
