After more than a decade of delay, work on converting the La Bahia Apartments into an upscale hotel could finally begin this spring. The developer, SC Hotel Partner, has applied for a building permit for the property located at 215 Beach St.
Most of the existing building, save the portion with the bell tower, will be demolished as part of the $90-million project. The developer said the hotel will have 165 rooms, 244 on-site parking spaces, two restaurants, banquet and meeting space, a pool and a spa. Construction is expected to take two years.
