The the child sex abuse case against former neurosurgeon James Kohut was formally dismissed in a Santa Cruz County courtroom on Thursday. Kohut committed suicide in the Santa Cruz County Jail last month by severing the femoral artery in his left leg. The District Attorney’s office is now in the process of reviewing the charges against the two remaining defendants in the case, Rashel Brandon and Emily Stephens, who are charged with alleged sexual abuse of four children.
