curiosity didn’t kill this cat, but it did earn him a free ride from marin to santa cruz. a michigan man on a road trip departed from marin early wednesday morning and headed towards santa cruz. after stopping for gas at an ocean street gas station, the driver heard a noise and discovered a small kitten in his van’s engine compartment. the man says he had not stopped driving since he left marin that morning, he thinks the kitten had crawled into the engine compartment looking for a warm place to sleep. santa cruz county animal shelter officials are working with the marin humane society to find the kitten’s home.
