Here’s an update on the Kincade fire, burning in Sonoma County. We expect a new information update from CAL FIRE later this morning but the 16-thousand acre fire was only 5 percent contained at last report on Thursday. 13-hunded firefighters, including 15 from our local CAL FIRE stations, are battling the blaze. 49 structures have been damaged or destroyed. No serious injuries or fatalities have been reported.
104 fire engines and 25 dozers are on-scene and if smoke conditions allow helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft will resume their fight. 12 helicopters were on the fire Thursday.
Don’t want to make too much of this, but PG&E reported to state regulators that around the time the fire started there was a problem with a high-tension line near when the blaze began. No determination as to whether PG&E equipment started the Kincade fire, but an investigation is underway.
