A local woman was named 2021 Woman Of The Year for Assembly District 30. Hollister resident Kathy Zanger Ruiz was honored as a valued leader, who has spent more than 50 years working to create opportunities for those most in need. Ruiz was the Director Of The Women’s Re-Entry Program at Gavilan Community College in Gilroy, the president of the San Benito County Board Of Education, Gavilan College’s Dean Of Liberal Arts And Agencies, and she spent 10 years as a Court-Appointed-Special-Advocate for 3 children in Monterey county. Kathy Zanger Ruiz also served as the head of the Fishes And Loaves……and she chaired the Homeless Task Force that set up the first emergency shelter in San Benito County.
