June 3, 2015: Condor Named Miracle Is Being Treated For Lead Poisoning

(19:32) PINNACLES NATIONAL PARK – A condor, that was the first to hatch in the wild in Big Sur in more than a century, is now being treated for lead poisoning. “Miracle”, as she was named, is thought to have ingested the lead by scavenging on carcasses containing hunter’s lead shot. She is now receiving a synthetic drug, that is designed to help her excrete the poison. Miracle is expected to be able to be returned to the wild once her led levels drop far enough.
