(17:53) WATSONVILLE– A recent spike in graffiti had community members working with police yesterday (Sunday). Volunteers worked alongside police officers at three hotspots visited by tagers. The areas were wiped clean off gang slogans, and then white washed and painted. In some places murals are being painted after it was noticed that most taggers avoid defacing someone else’s artwork. Watsonville police are also working with the District Attorney’s office to implement stiffer graffitit penalties.
