June 27, 2017: SC Business Owner Opens Orphanage in Vietnam

(08:45) Santa Cruz County – A Santa Cruz Business owner has fulfilled her dream of opening an orphanage in Vietnam.   Tracy Vu immigrated to the United States from Vietnam with her husband and three children in 2002 and had a dream of wanting to give back to her country.   In November, she visited a rural area of Vietnam and began to set up the orphanage, which provides education and provisions for children who have no citizenship status because they were abandoned at birth by their parents and are being cared for by nuns.  The orphanage was also created to educate children who can’t afford to go to school.    The orphanage was made possible from the Success of Vu’s business, Tracy’s Nails Salon, located in Capitola, as well as donations made by the community of Santa Cruz.  The orphanage is still under construction, and is scheduled to be completed by December.
