June 2, 2015: Native Animal Rescue

(16:51) SANTA CRUZ – Native Animal Rescue, in the Live Oak area of Santa Cruz, has cared for nearly 1,000 injured, sick, or abandoned wild animals since January. Most recently the shelter posted a series of pictures of Gray Fox cubs that were rescued from their den on Empire Grade Road after their mother was hit by a car. That litter has now been moved to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, where they will live in an outdoor enclosure until they are ready to be returned to the wild. Although people are encouraged to alert authorities to sick, injured, and abandoned animals, it is important to remember that not all animals need to be rescued. More information about that can be found on various wildlife websites, including www.NativeAnimalRescue.org . (S.S.)
