(10:30) SALINAS- A multi-agency fireworks press conference and demonstration will take place in Salinas today (Monday). At the event representatives of the Salinas Fire Department, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) will show the destruction caused by fireworks. The Bomb Squad and ATF agents will also demonstrate a variety of explosive and incendiary devices. Speakers at the event will highlight the fact that all fireworks are currently illegal in Salinas, that fireworks use carries heavy fines, and that the public will be able to enjoy a fireworks show at the Rodeo Grounds on July 4. . The event is at 11 a.m. at the County Yard at 855 East Laurel Street.
