(09:20) Santa Cruz County – Mattresses can be recycled free of charge in the City of Santa Cruz thanks to a Mattress program. Bye Bye Mattress is a free recycling program that was created to Help End Glut of Mattresses in landfills. More than 50,000 mattresses end up in U.S. landfills each day. The City of Santa Cruz is participating in the California Bye Bye Mattress recycling program to help decrease this statistic. Old mattresses and box springs will be accepted from the public free of charge on Saturday, June 24, at 207 Natural Bridges Drive from 8 a-m to 1 p-m. The City also accepts mattresses and box springs free of charge Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. as at the Resource Recovery Facility, 605 Dimeo Lane.
