(07:39) MONTEREY, SAN BENITO COUNTIES – Cal Fire officials have declared burn bans in San Benito and Monterey counties. Beginning Monday, all burn permits will be suspended and all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris will be prohibited. Meanwhile, Cal Fire is urging homeowners across the Central Coast to prepare their properties for wildfires. Residents are being asked to maintain a minimum of 100 feet of Defensible Space around their home, by clearing dead vegetation, planting fire resistant/drought tolerant plants, and finding alternative ways to dispose of landscape debris.
