A MAN, WHO THREATENED TO JUMP OFF THE JOHN STREET OVERPASS IN SALINAS THIS MORNING, WAS TALKED DOWN TO SAFETY. THE INCIDENT BEGAN AROUND 10:30 A-M, AND THE 40 YEAR-OLD MAN WHO WAS REPORTEDLY DESPONDENT OVER LOSING THE CUSTODY OF HIS CHILDREN, WAS BROUGHT TO SAFETY SOME TIME BEFORE 1:30 THIS AFTERNOON. THE SOUTHBOUND LANES OF HIGHWAY 101 WERE SHUT DOWN NEAR THE JOHN STREET OVERPASS DURING THE INCIDENT.
