July 8, 2016: Shoaling, Increased River Flow Flooding Main Beach in Santa Cruz

(08:48) SANTA CRUZ – Santa Cruz officials are planning a breach of the lagoon by Main Beach to alleviate recent flooding. In the past week, shoaling at the mouth of the San Lorenzo River has created a small lake stretching 300 yards down the beach. Increased water flows coming down the river are also contributing to the flooding. City officials are planning to manually breach the lagoon next Wednesday. (S.G.)
