(16:03) SANTA CRUZ – A portion of 17th avenue was shut down today due to a gas leak. The leak was allegedly caused when a gas line was broken by a shovel between Merrill and Felt Streets at approximately 12:45 p.m. PG&E crews repaired the gas line and the road was reopened by 2 p.m. No injuries were reported, but a nearby preschool was advised to shelter-in-place while the leak was evaluated.
