(07:17) SACRAMENTO – State officials have adopted new rules on limiting water use on landscapes. The regulations would remove grass from the properties of new office and commercial buildings and require new homes to reduce grass coverage from a third of the landscaped area to a quarter. Developers who use recycled water from showers and toilets would not be subject to the new rules. The regulations are being imposed as part of the state’s model landscape ordinance, which has been ordered by Governor Jerry Brown in the wake of the drought. (S.G.)
