(08:55) Santa Cruz – Santa Cruz beaches are open but the water is closed due to an aggressive shark incident that occurred earlier this week. Steve Lawson was knocked off his kayak by a shark around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Steamer Lane. Lifeguards are enforcing the 4 day water ban in the area between San Lorenzo River Mouth and Faire Avenue. As of 12:00 p.m. yesterday the Santa Cruz Police Department hadn’t issued any citations for people being in the water.
