(18:28) MONTEREY COUNTY – Voters in Monterey county will get to decide whether to ban fracking in the county. That after Monterey county supervisors voted unanimously to place an anti-fracking initiative on the November presidential ballot. If approved by voters in November, the Monterey County General Plan, the Local Coastal Plan, and the Fort Ord Master Plan would have to be amended. Fracking is the process of drilling into the ground, and then using a high-pressure water mixture to release the gas inside rocks. The process also produces waste water, which a group called “Protect Monterey County” describes as toxic.
