A 29-year-old woman, who fatally hit a 70-year-old Las Lomas man in Santa Cruz last August, has been ordered to stand trial. Joanna Steele reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit when she was arrested several hours after the accident. The man Steele’s vehicle hit, Adolf Galvan, was in a coma for eleven days before he succumbed to his injuries. Steele is due back in a Santa Cruz County Courtroom again January 6th. If convicted on all of the charges against her, she could face a sentence of four years in prison.
