(06:27) Santa Cruz – The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is the first agency in the nation to embrace President Barack Obama’s policing recommendations. A task force of both 20 deputies and 20 citizens has been assigned to study the recommendations and come up with a plan to implement them locally later this year. Sheriff Jim Hart believes the department is doing a good job in the community but also believes the organization can do a better job. Congresswoman Anna Eshoo gave her support of the Sheriff Office’s actions, which include community policing and fair and impartial enforcement as well as non-enforcement trust building activities.
