January 21, 2016: Santa Cruz Fencing Bust

(17:31) SANTA CRUZ- Santa Cruz Police arrested 2 people involved in a stolen property fencing operation last week. On January 15th police responded to a call near a gas station at the corner of Walnut Avenue and Mission Street. At the scene officers met with the caller who had used an app to track his stolen iPad to the location. Investigators asked the victim to activate the devices alarm as they entered the station. Upon entering the business the officers heard the iPad’s alarm behind the counter. A search of the building uncovered stolen construction tools, 19 high end bicycles, jewelry and electronics. The manager, 46 year old Felipe Chavez, and an employee 18 year old Angel Guzman were booked into county jail. An investigation is ongoing.
