January 20, 2016: 2 Missing U.C.S.C. Students

(16:54) U.C.S.C. – The names of the 2 U.C.S.C. students who were swept into the ocean on Monday have been released. 19 year-old sophomore Shireen Agha Ahsan, and 25 year-old sophomore Solaiman Nourzaie were hiking with friends and classmates along the cliffs near bonny doon beach, when all 5 climbed down to the beach. Ahsan and Nourzaie were reportedly on a rocky outcropping with another student when a large wave swept all 3 into the ocean. The 3rd person made it back to shore, but despite a 22-hour search by rescue personnel, neither Ahsan nor Nourzaie have been found. Ahsan is from palo alto and was a student at Kresge College, while Nourzaie was from san jose, and was attending College 9. U-C-S-C students who wish to speak with someone are encouraged to contact Counseling And Psychological Services at (831) 459-2628.
