(07:15) Aptos – A secondhand store in Aptos has donated 275-thousand dollars this year to children’s local programs. The founder of Caroline’s Thrift Shop, Christy Licker, has donated over 1 million dollars to 19 local nonprofits since she opened the store in 2010. Licker was inspired to open the nonprofit thrift shop after her daughter, Caroline Licker, died in 2007 at the age of 16 from complications related to scoliosis surgery. Licker’s daughter was cared for by local organizations such as, Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care, Hospice of Santa Cruz County, Jacob’s Heart and Special Parents Information Network. Caroline’s Thrift Shop consists of furniture, art, clothing and jewelry and is located at the corner of Trout Gulch Road and Soquel Drive in Aptos.
