Realtors say high prices in Santa Cruz and surrounding areas have made homes in the city attractive to buyers. Watsonville houses typically sell for over 200,000 dollars less than the Santa Cruz market, and have larger lots. The demand is also thought to be related to the city’s new ordinance allowing for the production of medical marijuana with in city limits. Property values in Watsonville have gone up 10 percent since the end of the recession.
