Over the weekend, over 220,000 customers were without electricity throughout portions of Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
Electricity was restored for most customers affected by this outage after 8 PM on Sunday, with many residents in the Santa Cruz mountains still without their lights, unrelated to the shutdowns ordered by the California Independent State Operator.
The lingering power outages were due in part to downed power lines, broken utility pole wires, wind damage, and equipment issues thanks to recent storms.
The current major outage areas in Santa Cruz County include Bonny Doon, North of Davenport near Greyhound Rock, portions of residents along Empire Grade, Zayante Creek, Lompico, customers along the Loma Prieta Mountain Range, Highland Way, and Bear Creek Road.
These utility outage incidents are not related to Public Safety Power Shutoffs.
