The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

            I wrote this in January 2006.   It is in my book.   I want to talk about the lobbying business because it is alive and flourishing.  This industry has doubled in the past five years, mainly because large corporations have discovered that since hiring lobbyists at starting salaries of $300,000 per year, those corporations have seen their business increase significantly, in some cases as much as fourfold.

Now, five years later well-connected lobbyists are commanding and getting $750,000 per year, and one is getting $1,000,000 per year.  A lobbyist in Washington may have once been in, and understands the workings of passing laws, and can and does persuade lawmakers to legislate laws that directly benefit the corporation which hires the lobbyist.  It has become commonplace for members of corporations to actually sit in on lawmakers’ meetings and help with the creation and wording of the law, which the corporation wants passed.  Outrageous?  You bet.  But, this practice has been around for so long and it has probably never been challenged.

 A recent case in point – the just passed and implemented Medicare Part D law to help seniors pay less for their medications actually was written by the pharmaceutical industry.   This is a perfect case of a fox minding the chicken coop.

Another tidbit of political incest – a number of lawmakers’ wives are lobbyists, also.   Imagine their pillow talk.

It is unknown when this lucrative business of political persuasion or culture of corruption began.  Our Founding Fathers would surely have nixed the notion of private business paying obscene sums of money to certain powerful persons to get laws passed in their favor.

Anyhow, it smells.  In fact, it stinks.   The laws of the nation should not be made and bought by big corporations.

It is inherently dishonest and wrong, and the little guy never gets a chance at a level playing field.   But, nothing will change.  The lobbying business is too entrenched, and it is a big industry in Washington DC, and I believe it is here to stay.  There are 30,000 registered lobbyists operating in our capital today.

Is it too much to expect our elected officials to work diligently and honestly to thoroughly study the issues then pass laws which benefit all of us, the poor and the not poor, and do so without outside influence and bribery?   The answer is yes, it is too much to expect.

In a perfect world, that could happen.  But, this is not a perfect world.  Because of the dark side of human nature, power will always corrupt.

The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

          This commentary is in my book, written in July 2006.   Strangely, if I wrote it today, five years later, it would still be relevant.

Israel is at war with Hamas and Hezbollah in Lebanon, both terrorist organizations funded by Syria and Iran, the latter whose leader more than once has told the world that Israel must be destroyed.   Despite my forthcoming remarks, I hope that the U.N. finally comes up with some solutions and advice to justify their existence for the U.S. and other democracies.  This is a moment of truth for the U.N.

            Not unlike the predictable reaction of Pavlov’s dogs, who learned to salivate happily every time a bell rang, I experience a similar, though negative reaction when I think about the U.N.   It was created in 1945 in San Francisco, 66 years ago, that was after WW2, and all the nations who participated were filled with hope that together they could solve the world’s problems peacefully.  It was deja vu all over again like the League of Nations created after World War I, which turned out to be a dismal failure.

The U.N. is also a dismal failure.  Countries with different basic principles and moral standards can never homogenize.   Add to that the inevitable human fact that those endowed with less will somehow hate those endowed with more, and like it or not most in the U.N. hate the U.S.

Haven’t we seen throughout the years that when we turn to the U.N. for wisdom and counsel, nothing happens?

Recently, we had urged the U.N. to come up with solutions for the North Korea problem – which could blow up the planet – and Iran – which surely could do likewise – yet no decision is forthcoming, because the U.N. is filled with intrigue, corruption, and prejudice.

Let’s face it, most members hate us with a passion because we are their foolish generous benefactors who built them a home free of charge in New York City, and we pay all the yearly upkeep of $3 billion per year.  And, many of the leaders of the countries involved live in New York at our expense, and they reject most of our suggestions.

I sound like a broken record, but let’s invite the U.N. to leave the U.S., resign from it, and let’s make an alliance with other democracies whose philosophies match ours, of decency, fairness, and accountability, and move ahead to make the world safer.  I believe the U.N. has an agenda, and that is to rule the world.

As an addendum, here’s another possible, less-extreme solution.  The U.N. has been the only kid on the block for 61 years, and has shamelessly vetoed most U.S. suggestions.  Thus far, it has cost our Country possibly 61 times $3 billion.

Before separating irrevocably, why not create a separate united democracies now, and add another perspective and dimension to global solutions.   Or, let’s eliminate the United Nations altogether and also save ourselves $3 billion per year.

What do you think?

The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

Dear Listeners,

This is a story about two men who like money very much.  One of them is wealthy, very wealthy, because his business owns many store branches around the entire United States.

I believe this is a story of incredible greed.

I also believe these two buddies hired two local attorneys to look into issues regarding our Fairgrounds which naturally makes noise during all hours of the day and night.

I believe these two men have an evil agenda.

I further believe they instructed their attorneys to make life legally miserable for our Fairgrounds personnel to the extent that the Fairgrounds would be forced to close down like frivolous lawsuits.

Evidently State Fairgrounds no longer receive government funds.

I also believe these rich skunks would immediately purchase the Fairgrounds land and develop it into home sites to make a financial killing for themselves.

I believe they do not care, that thousands of us would be denied the pleasures of all the wonderful activities of our own Fairgrounds.

Money does evil things to some people.  One wonders how much is ever enough.

Now, if all of the above is indeed true, we at KSCO are committed to exposing these two scoundrels and their attorneys so that their evil plans will never come to fruition.

The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

          Even as a teenager patiently waiting for the right to vote, I used to wonder why our government felt the need to allow unions to be involved in the working process since we live in a free society.

          To my personal delight, last March 9th this year 2011, a group of Republican Senators led by Jim DeMint introduced the National Right To Work Act meant to protect the free choice of workers to form, join, or assist labor organizations or to not if they choose not to.

Previously, during the 111th Congress all Senate Democrats voted against workers’ rights – but now with this new Right To Vote Act they have a chance to protect American workers’ freedom to choose.

According to Senator DeMint, he said “No one should be forced to join a union and pay dues to get a job in this Country.”   Many Americans are struggling to just put food on the table and they should not have to fear losing their jobs if they do not wish to join a union.

Forced unionism shields unions from members’ accountability and in states where companies are forced to have only union workers, businesses have struggled to compete while they deal with unreasonable work rules.

I say also despite President Obama’s approval and support of unions, this new Act will insure that no employees will ever again be forced to join a union in order to get or keep a job.

The National Right To Work Act will liberate workers to do just that.

For too long, unionism has played politics and discriminated against workers and businesses and this new law sends a message to union bosses that their backroom dealings and bullying will no longer be tolerated.

There do exist both forced union states and right to work states and the latter consistently outperform union states in factors that affect workers’ wellbeing and from 1977 to 2007 right to work states experienced a 23% faster rise in per capita income than states with forced unionism.

Which brings me to wonder again, why does Obama like unions so much?

The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

          George Carlin was an American standup comedian, social critic, and author who won five Grammy Awards for his brilliant comedy.  He was born in 1937, and died in 2008.  He wrote “The Paradox of Our Time”.   It is so full of truth and wisdom and surely worth repeating.

          We have –
Taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
We spend more, but have less;
We buy more, but enjoy less;
We have bigger houses and smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;
More ‘experts’ yet more problems;
More medicine, but less wellness;

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and Pray too seldom;

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values;
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often;
We have learned how to make a living, but not a life;
We have added years to life, not life to years;
We have been all the way to the moon and back, but we have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor;
We conquered outer space, but not inner space;
We have done larger things, but not better things;
We have cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
We have conquered the atom, but not our prejudice;
We write more, but learn less;
We plan more, but accomplish less;
We learned to rush, but not to wait;
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
Big men and small character;
Steep profits and shallow relationships;
These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce;
Fancier houses, but broken homes;
A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight or to just hit Delete;
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you with awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it does not cost a cent.
Remember, to say “I love you” to your partner and loved ones.

The following is a KSCO commentary.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

          Those in our midst who spend money very easily, like Barack and Michele Obama, probably never personally had to earn much money.

          Our President and his wife were also probably in the position, growing up, where their families were poor, and they both were bright students who were financially helped up to and through law school.
          It is a shame, and public waste that neither one of them could practice law today because both had their licenses revoked for shady dealings.

          Obama got us into the financial mess we are in now because he never had a real job and never really made any significant amount of money.

          Since he has been in office, our national debt has increased by more than 35%.

          Frantically looking for new revenue, Obama is now turning to the Death Tax, which last year was at zero percent – where it should have been because any funds that the American people expect to leave to heirs has already been taxed, so there should be no Death Tax.

          On 1-1-2011 (that is this year), Obama raised the Death Tax to 35%.

          Mr. President, you know what you are doing is despicable, and you do not care.

          Unless speedy action is taken by our Congress, that rate is scheduled to explode to a horrific 55% in just over a year from now while Obama is still in office.

          How do I know this?   Because of the citizens group called 60 Plus who are asking for donations from the public to kill the Death Tax.

          They wrote me and others over 60 who expect to leave some inheritance for their heirs while the 60 group hopes to permanently repeal the Death Tax.

          That recently almost happened; however, underhanded procedural maneuvers by ultra liberal Democrats, led by Harry Reid, stopped us from gaining total victory in the Senate despite passing repeal of the Death Tax by a vote of 57 to repeal and 43 to not repeal.

          But, Reid demanded a super-majority of 60 votes for repeal of the Death Tax, not a simple fair 51 vote majority.

          This current law on the books is a ticking time bomb, and the explosion of 55% will be over more than half of all inheritances to our children and grandchildren going to these big government liberal greedy skunks.

          I say “Mr. President, for allowing and condoning stealing our children’s inheritance, you are despicable!”

          Honorably, that should have been the last place for you to look for more money.

          60 Plus must now raise $125,000 to try to kill the Death Tax, and it is unlikely that that will happen.

          If all else fails, during the 2012 Presidential election, it is most important for all Americans to go to the polls and vote and remove Obama from office, repeal the Death Tax, and repeal Obamacare.

Kay Commentary 2011-08-13

The following is an encore presentation of a Kay commentary originally aired on 11-24-2005.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

This is called “Holy Moses and Jesus Christ”, and I wrote it 11-24-2005.

Holy Moses and Jesus Christ – undoubtedly the two most compelling moral figures of our current civilization, because they were chosen by God to deliver to the world His messages for the endurance of a good and ethical society.  History records that after God created the world, He also created different civilizations to occupy it one at a time.  Each civilization grew and evolved, and because of human lust and power, each gradually became so morally bankrupt that in disgust God decided to discard them and start all over again.  The present civilization is now showing unmistakable signs of so much moral decay that God may discard it, also.   He is very angry with us – witness the unusual and frequent abundant catastrophes our world is experiencing.    The latest catastrophe could be the announcement recently that 12-year-old boys in elementary school will be offered condoms.

Moses was summoned by God to receive and disburse to His people, the Jews, His Ten Commandments, so that gradually all people would learn to worship God by living productively and morally.   Our civilization presently is being assaulted by many people who have rejected religion, rejected the family unit, are trying to legalize same-sex marriage.  These same people created legislation to allow pregnant 12-year-old girls to obtain abortions without the knowledge of their parents.  Our society is going downhill rapidly.

Several centuries after God delivered to Moses His Commandments, a very special human being was born, and His name was Jesus Christ.  And, I love Jesus Christ.   As a young adult, His message was “Love they neighbor, and turn the other cheek.”   It is moot to argue whether Jesus was or was not divine.  Suffice to say, that His was a very special message because He offered the concept of goodness to the world that needed to hear it.   These teachings of Jesus were so new and so foreign to a dog-eat-dog belligerent and destructive world that many embraced his concept and so Christianity was born.

About a couple of centuries ago, our nation, a democracy, was created by our Forefathers and in their wisdom they combined the moral beliefs of both Judaism and Christianity for this new incredible Country.  So, the U.S. has been and always will be a Judeo Christian nation.   May our democracy continue to prosper and endure despite the negative pressures of godless forces in our midst.

Kay Commentary 2011-08-06

The following is an encore presentation of an earlier Kay commentary and appears in her new book.  Here is Kay Zwerling:

          I wrote it at least a decade ago, and this topic has not changed much.

About the International Court of Justice, because it is blatantly biased, it is a Court of injustice.

The International Court of injustice states that Israel has no right to self-defense.  With more than 20,000 attacks on its people in less than four years with nearly 1,000 deaths by suicide bombers, the Court has declared Open Season on Jews.

Will the Decree stop the building of the fence around Israel?  Hell no.  If the Palestinian authority will not stop the bombers, the Israeli people will, by attacking them before they get to Israel, and by keeping them out.   This is how you fight terrorism.

Now, here are some facts about the Middle Eastern conflict:
#1.  Israel became a nation in 1312 BCE, 2000 years before the rise of Islam.
#2.  Arab refugees began identifying themselves as part of the Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
#3.  The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the so-called Palestinians.  There is only one Jewish nation.   The eight Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost.  Israel defended itself each time and won.
#4.  The PLO’s Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel.  Now, in 2011 as we speak, Iran is busy planning for the annihilation of Israel.   The haters never stop.

Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land and autonomy under the Palestinian authority.   Big mistake.
#5.  In 1948, the Israeli Arabs left Israel expecting to return after the eight nations won their initiated wars against Israel.  But, all that never happened, because the Arab nations prefer to use the refugees as political pawns.

So, for me, an American Jewess, it is a sad fact that anti-Semitism is an incurable social disease, and for the most part Israel stands very much alone in the world of public opinion, except for the support of our United States World Jewelry and perhaps some fair-minded world citizens.

Currently we must exclude our present leader Barrack Obama who is the first American President to refuse to support Israel.   Obama is planning for the destruction of Israel by demanding it go back to the 1967 borders.

In Israel’s search for peace, to paraphrase Golda Meir, one of the earlier Prime Ministers of the Modern State of Israel, she said:  “I can forgive many things; however, forced to defend ourselves for our own survival, I can never forgive that in order to defend ourselves our sons are forced to become killers.”

For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling.
