carpool advocates around the monterey bay are marking the 29th annual ride-share month in october.   local rideshare programs encourage residents to use alternative means of transportation to get around, including biking, public transportation and carpooling.  in monterey county, the program is known as "commute alternatives," it's called "Commute solutions" in santa cruz county, and in san benito county, the program is known as "Rideshare."  employers are encouraged to contact a local rideshare representative to be eligible for prizes.   for more information, visit the website w w w dot rideshare dot com.
