Police in Santa Cruz County cities will pay special attention to people breaking traffic laws during the remainder of September. Officers say they will be looking for several violations, including distracted driving, making illegal turns, failing to stop for signs or signals and failing to yield to other drivers or pedestrians. This month has already seen DUI checkpoints and a sting operation in Watsonville against drivers who failed to stop for pedestrians.
