A coordinated law enforcement effort is set to begin on friday in Monterey county. As part of the nationwide “avoid the 18” campaign, California highway patrol officers, along with Monterey county sheriffs deputies and local police officers, are set to take part in the crackdown. The program targets drunk and other unsafe drivers. The increased enforcement is set to last through labor day weekend.
