A STATE BILL HAS PASSED THE SENATE THAT WILL EASE LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME MEDICAL PROFESSIONS. CURRENTLY, IMMIGRANTS WHO ARE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AND DO NOT HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, CANNOT RECEIVE MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL LICENSES TO CONDUCT BUSINESS. THE BILL, PROPOSED BY SENATOR RICARDO LARA, WILL ALSO SANCTION THE USE OF A FEDERAL TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER INSTEAD OF A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.
