a man was sentenced to nearly 2 years in jail after being convicted of illegal lodging in santa cruz, but part of the sentence was suspended. 47 year old gary johnson was arrested 4 times in december and january after refusing to pack up his sleeping bag from outside the santa cruz county courthouse. johnson was sentenced to the 84 days he’s already spent in jail, with an additional sentence of 236 days in jail, which was suspended. if johnson violates the illegal lodging law again, he will have to serve that time.
