If a recall election goes forward for governor Newsom, right now there are 3 established republicans who have entered the recall election race…..but there are no prominent democrats in the race so far. The recall is divided into two parts: 1st , voters are asked if governor Newsom should be removed (yes or no). The 2nd question is a list of replacement candidates, should the governor be ousted.
Back in 2003, when governor Gray Davis was recalled, there were initially 135 people on the ballot. Arnold Schwarzenegger won with 48.6 percent of the vote…..while then Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante garnered 31.5 percent and Tom McClintock received 13.4 percent of the vote.
