Two northbound lanes on a portion of Highway 101 were blocked this afternoon after a big-rig accident occurred just south of Salinas. CHP says the driver of a big rig was trying to make a u-turn on the highway near Hartnell Road around 12:20, when a vehicle collided with the rig’s trailer. The accident caused a traffic stand still for about an hour while an air ambulance was called in and several people were taken to the hospital.
