A 2-MILE SECTION OF HIGHWAY 1 NORTH OF BIG SUR WILL CONTINUE TO BE CLOSED AFTER A PORTION OF THE HIGHWAY FELL INTO THE PACIFIC OCEAN WEDNESDAY NIGHT. CAL-TRANS OFFICIALS HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT IT WILL BE AT LEAST A MONTH BEFORE A TEMPORARY REPAIR CAN BE MADE. ALL BUSINESSES IN BIG SUR REMAIN OPEN, OFFICIALS RECOMMEND HIGHWAYS 101, 68, AND 46 AS ALTERNATE ROUTES DURING THE CLOSURE.
