Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Officials have opened an investigation, after human remains were found off of Highway-17 this morning. The bones were reported at 9:15 a.m., on the 23-thousand block of Highway-17. The Sheriff’s Coroner responded to the scene, and determined the remains were those of a person, however they were too decomposed to tell much about the victim. A Lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Department, Jim Hart, said the cause of death can’t yet be determined, and neither can the victim’s age, gender, or date of death. More information should be determined after an autopsy, which is scheduled to be performed this weekend.
