A fire broke out at a Carmel Valley house on Saturday, causing the death of a family dog. Nobody was home when the 2:45 p.m. fire ignited, in the kitchen of a house at 37 Poppy Road. Firefighters contained the flames to the kitchen, in about 15 minutes, however the dog was found dead of smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported, and its estimated the blaze caused about 150-thousand dollars’ worth of damage.
