Hospice Giving Foundation hosts a virtual celebration to remember and honor loved ones 11-18-20 16:26 DC

A 30-year tradition in our community, the Tree of Life Celebration is a time to celebrate hope and remember loved ones. This year, it will also be a time to honor our collective grief and loss around the pandemic.

On Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at 5:00 pm, we will broadcast live a very special Tree of Life Celebration: Together We Remember.

The event featuring song, story, and very special guests will be broadcast from our website, streamed on Facebook, as well as shown on the local AMP 1, Comcast Channel 24.

“The strength, care, and compassion shown throughout our community this past year has been an honor to witness and to participate in.”, remarked CEO Siobhan Greene. “As we prepare for a holiday season that will most likely look very different than those we’ve known all our lives, it’s really our friends, loved ones, and neighbors – our community — who give us hope.”

Viewers are encouraged to make this night memorable with candles and photos of the person or people they want to remember, and to consider coming together safely online with family and friends for their own private watch parties.

The program features jazz vocalist Julie Capili accompanied by local musician Dennis Murphy; Monterey County Weekly publisher, Eric Cushman; and Reverend Luke Ham of Church of the Wayfarer.

Renowned palliative care physician and advocate, Dr. Ira Byock, will help us remember those who have died from COVID.

A very special song will be performed by the Carmel High School Choir and, as it has for the past thirty years, the event culminates with the tree lighting atop the Monterey Marriott.

The event is free and open to all. Register by December 10, 2020, to be entered to win a beautiful holiday wreath from Creekside Farms. http://hospicegiving.org/treeoflife/

Coming together as a community in times like these is what it takes to find hope. Together we remember, together we heal. Join us as we honor our community and remember our loved ones on Friday, December 11th at 5:00 pm.
