A different kind of homeless encampment is forming at the “San Lorenzo Park Benchlands” near the government center in Santa Cruz.
A government task force led by the county department of human services has set apart a grassy area for up to 60 people that includes 24-hour staffing. The goal is to minimize the spread of covid 19 and supplement services already in place.
The new camp has a site manager who will help organize outreach programs for the homeless.
