hollister city officials have apporved a merger between local 911 dispatch operations and santa cruz county’s regional 911 center. the move comes as an attempt to cut spending through consolidation. if san benito county approves the merger at the end of the month, local public safety and emergency communcaitions would be moved 40 miles west to the santa cruz facility. the merger is expected to save 250-thousand dollars annually. officials pledge that the merger will have no effect on response times.
