Hollister has been fined over 181 thousand dollars in connection with 2016 water pollution case. The settlement is due to the release of 38 thousand gallons of tomato canning waste water into the San Benito River due to a valve failure. Half of the fine will be used to upgrade waste water treatment facilities to ensure the incident cannot be repeated.
