Although Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order that allows law enforcement officers to register sex offenders remotely, the Hollister Police Department plans to continue to register (and monitor) sex offenders the same way they have for years. Instead the department has said they have put up a barrier in the front lobby, and employees are trained to use masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. That said, fingerprints, signatures, initials and photographs of the registrant will not be required for the next 60 days. Sex offenders living in the Hollister area are encouraged to call to make an appointment for their yearly registration update. Transient Sex Offenders still need to register every 30 days.
