THE DRIVER OF AN S-U-V HAD TO BE AIRLIFTED TO A TRAUMA CENTER AFTER A THURSDAY AFTERNOON WRECK ON HIGHWAY 17. SHORTLY BEFORE 1 P-M THE SOUTHBOUND VEHICLE HIT A SIGN POST AND THE GUARDRAIL, NEAR THE MOUNT HERMON EXIT, BEFORE ROLLING ONTO ITS ROOF. A PASSENGER WAS ALSO INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO AN AREA HOSPITAL. ANOTHER PASSENGER WAS UNINJURED. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
