The brush clearing project on Highway 17 continues this week, and travelers of the winding mountain highway will continue to experience delays outside of the morning rush hour.
Delays will continue all week long from 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Thursday of this week. These delays will impact the Northbound side of Highway 17 between the Summit and Redwood Estates.
In prior weeks, these delays have typically been reported as 20 minutes, but have ballooned as well over an hour. This is due to the “fire safe” project blocking a single northbound lane on Highway 17.
Those that commute or travel over the hill are advised to plan ahead, or consider alternative routes. As for Thanksgiving week (November 25-29), this project will pause for the holiday and no delays related to this fire safety project are anticipated.
