This week kicked off a $9 Million project to mitigate the possibility of wildfires over the Highway 17 Corridor, with the project being funded in part by statewide cap-and-trade dollars.
The SR-17 Shaded Fuel Break project, proposed by Santa Clara County Fire Safe Council, consists of brush removal as well as vegetation thinning, and will take place throughout the end of year.
Motorists can expect single-lane closures as Cal Fire crews work to clear the brush. Delays, as a result of this project, can be expected along Highway 17 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
